Jimmy Duquennoy, a young Belgian cyclist of only 23 years old, died in the early hours of Friday 5 October after suffering a heart attack in his home. The WB Aqua Protect Veranclassic, the team of the promising cyclist, has been responsible for emitting a communiqué in the social networks with the bad news. Duquennoy, who was beginning to emerge as a sprinter and puncheur, was three years as a professional and had just competed in the Münsterland Giro in Germany, a race in which he retired last Wednesday.
The tragic death of Duquennoy returns to mourning the Belgian cycling, adding this to the also tragic death of Michael Goolaerts last April when he collapsed competing in Paris-Roubaix. Both cyclists were young and without any health problems detected in the numerous medical tests they had undergone as any professional athlete does.
